In the course of writing a post that will appear in my Empoprise-MU music blog, I had occasion to visit the website of the British Basketball League. When I got there, I focused on one team - the Birmingham Knights.
Why the Knights? Because, in the 2013-2014 season, they have yet to win a game.
There happens to be a reason for this apparent futility. This is the first season for the Birmingham Knights.
And the Knights clearly have their fans.
.@BhamKnights looking stronger and stronger every game, surely won't be long 'till their first #theBBL win?
And coach Paul Douglas is thinking toward the long term:
“We have to remember that BBL Basketball is back in Birmingham, so it’s much more than results on the court that will define the season.
“It’s about building the fan base, developing the game in the city and building solid foundations for the future.
“We have an unwanted record, but we are putting down roots and it will be even more joyous when we do win.”
The players also deserve credit, according to Douglas.
“I am lucky to have a group of players that despite our losses they still come back to training every week with a positive attitude.”
