Toxic?

A letter began:

My boss refuses to move me away from a toxic co-worker.

Now that sounds pretty bad. What is the toxic nature of the co-worker?

She has actually said, "I'm here to work, not socialize."...

I am a very giving person, and she takes advantage of my good nature. I have brought her Christmas and birthday gifts, but she has never once reciprocated.
